We leave misty Cusco early in the morning heading to Soraypampa, the starting point of our trek. Sipping hot coca tea and listening to our guide's stories, we prepare for the exciting day that lays ahead.
On the way to the trail head, we cross the city of Limatambo - an important access point to Cusco during the time of the Inca Empire. Here we find the archaeological remains of Tarawasi, a place that served as a resting point for those heading to Chinchaysuyo. We too find respite in this sacred place.
We continue our journey along the right bank of the Apurimac River until we reach Soraypampa. Finally we stop for breakfast, greeted by warm smiles of the local restaurant owners. We dine on warm bread and white cheese, sweet jams and hot coffee.
Sated, we start our trek up the mountain towards the Humantay Lagoon. The driver stays with the car, as we begin the walk with our private guide. Equipped with snacks, coca leaves, and an oxygen tank, we feel safe and ready for anything.
Upon arrival, nothing else to do but appreciate the stunning scenery of this wonderful place and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. This is Peru, Sated Ventures way.
